STEM-A

[Science] is more than a school subject, or the periodic table, or the properties of waves. It is an approach to the world, a critical way to understand and explore and engage with the world, and then have the capacity to change that world..." (President Barack Obama, March 23, 2015)

The STEMA project has a strong European dimension with partners from 4 countries, from 2016 to 2018. The Cigli Ilce Milli Egitim Mudurlugu (IZMIR, TURKEY) is the leader of the partnership cooperating with IIS VITTORIO EMANUELE II (NAPLES, ITALY), ASOCIATIA DIRECT (BUCHAREST, ROMANIA), 1 EPAL KAVALAS (KAVALA, GREECE) to design innovative interventions in STEM education, to address the real challenges in an educational environment with the development of innovative tools, methods & lessons by supporting schools and teachers to sustain a further evolution of existing STEM methodologies.
By starting STEM-A Atelier/trainings at schools, project partners desire to carry out the Project in need of bringing an innovative perspective to STEM learning and affecting students’ knowledge and skills positively.

STEM education integrates concepts that are usually taught as separate subjects in different classes and emphasizes the application of knowledge to real-life situations.
A lesson or unit in a STEM class is typically based around finding a solution to a real-world problem and tends to emphasize project-based learning.

A variation of STEM is STEMA, which includes an 'A' for art and design. Artistic design is becoming an important part of STEM education since creativity is an essential part of innovation.
Many STEM lessons involve building models and simulating situations. A good STEM lesson ensures that students understand the connection to the real world.
STEM education could take place in a separate STEM class or be incorporated into practically any subject and grade level.
